SCHMIDLE-Richard P. Age 85 of Wilson, died February 28, 2007 at the InterCommunity Memorial Hospital at Newfane. He was born on August 5, 1921 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Adolph and Lola Britt Schmidle. Richard was a former teacher and High School Principal at Wilson and School Administrator at Edward, NY, and Newark, NY. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Jeanne Padington Schmidle; three children: Sandra (Paul) Holden of Wilson, Richard E. (Mary Ellen) Schmidle of Greece, NY, and Timothy (Debbie) Schmidle of Ithaca, NY; one granddaughter: Kara Lynn Holden of Lockport, NY; two brothers: Art (Carol) Schmidle of Arcade, NY, and Don Schmidle of East Aurora, NY. A memorial service will be held at a future time and date to be announced. Memorials to the Wilson Fire Co. #1 or to the Wilson Free Library are gratefully accepted.

SCHMIDLE-Dr. Richard P. A Memorial Mass for Dr. Richard P. Schmidle will be held Saturday, April 28, at 11 AM at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church in Wilson, NY. Dr. Schmidle, 85, of Wilson, died February 28, 2007 at the InterCommunity Memorial Hospital, Newfane, NY. He was born August 5, 1921 in Buffalo, NY, the son of the late Adolph and Lola Britt Schmidle. He graduated from John Carroll University in 1943 and earned a Doctorate in Education from the University of Buffalo in 1966. He taught at Riverside High School in Buffalo from 1947 to 1951. He taught English and history at Wilson Central School from 1951 to 1958 and was High School principal at Wilson from 1957 to 1966. He was Superintendent of Schools at Ft. Edward, NY from 1967 to 1969 and Superintendent of Newark Central School, Newark, NY from 1970 until his retirement in 1979. Dr. Schmidle was a veteran of WWII, serving from 1943 to 1946, first as a training instructor and then as a medic in the 95th Infantry Division, 377th Regiment, Battalion Aid Station in France and Germany. He attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and was awarded a Combat Medic Badge. He was a member of the Lions Club, and served on the boards of the Wilson Library and the Newark Wayne Community Hospital, and was a communicant at Our Lady of the Rosary. He is survived by his wife of 63 years Jeanne Padginton Schmidle; three children: Sandra (Paul) Holden of Wilson, Richard E. (Mary Ellen) Schmidle of Rochester, NY, and Timothy (Deborah) Schmidle of Ithaca, NY; a granddaughter: Kara Lynn Holden of Lockport, NY; two brothers: Art (Carol) Schmidle of Akron, NY, and Don Schmidle of East Aurora, NY, and many nieces and nephews. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Donations in his memory may be made to the Wilson Fire Co. No. 1, 250 Young St., Wilson, NY 14172, or to the Wilson Free Library, 265 Young St., Wilson, NY 14172.
