Kathleen B. Ness

Active in Wilson Community

Kathleen (nee Batt) Ness, age 91, of Wilson, died Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at Inter-community Memorial Hospital in Newfane. Born November 16, 1913 in North Tonawanda, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and May (nee Hartnett) Batt and had been a resident of Wilson for more than 60 years. She received her masters degree from D'Youville College in Buffalo, and worked as an English teacher and librarian at Wilson High School, before retiring in 1974. Mrs. Ness was actively involved with the Friends of the Library, the Historical Society, and Our Lady of the Rosary Church, all in Wilson. She was the wife of the late Arthur J. Ness, who died November 18, 1994, and sister of the late Maryhelen Feeley, Marilyn Niland, and Marjorie Batt.

She is survived by several nieces and a nephew.

There will be no visitation. Friends are invited to celebrate a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 AM Tuesday at Our Lady of the Rosary Church, 359 Lake Road in Wilson. Interment will be cared for privately at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Town of Tonawanda. If desired, memorials to the Wilson Free Library, 265 Young, Wilson, NY 14172, are preferred by the family. Arrangements entrusted to the care of the Hamp Funeral Home, Inc., Adam and Seymour Streets, Tonawanda.
